Senior COBOL Developer

We are seeking a  Senior COBOL Developer to work on  our W2 (no sponsorship or C2C) for a hybrid assignment (3 days/wk on site) with our Austin, Texas client. You will be supporting mainframe modernization with most existing applications written in COBOL or Java. You'll perform highly complex software development work with considerable independence and minimal supervision.

Job Duties

•             Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications on the mainframe

•             Assess business requirements and design technical solutions and architectures

•             Provide technical guidance to team members, including training materials and presentations

•             Anticipate and resolve technical, operational, and process issues in a timely manner

Required Skills

COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, Microsoft Teams

Preferred Skills

REXX, XPEDITER, SVN, SQR (Hyperion)

Qualifications

•             6 to 8 years of experience assessing requirements, designing technology solutions and architectures, and providing technical directions to teams

•             Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

•             Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

•             Collaborative, team-oriented approach

•             Knowledge of mainstream technologies and architecture, including open standards, databases, and integration technologies
